BURTON — Computer programmer Brad Johnson claims that he knew what field he was shooting for as far back as his middle school days when he had a knack for math and liked building things. “Just after I quit wanting to be an astronaut,” the 28-year old programmer and current Burton web page designer says. “Web design was obviously not what I wanted to do since, well, the internet wasn't around yet. I had my first computer, a Commodore 64, when I was 4 years old and have always been my family’s go-to guy.”

BURTON — Burton’s Public Access Committee is asking that you stop and consider your city for a moment. They’re turning to residents for a city slogan and are asking residents to encapsulate the city in a few words or a sentence. “Right now, our slogan is ‘Burtucky.’ We need to unify the city somehow,” said Councilman Danny Wells.

BURTON — Drawing on inspiration from city websites in Texas, Vermont and South Carolina, Burton is fine tuning what the new city website will look like.
Councilman Danny Wells envisions a home page with a slideshow that rotates scenic shots of schools, Kelly Lake and the veteran's memorial.
"Whatever [they] envision, we can probably do it," said Brad Johnson, owner of BTS Online Stores, who's in charge of the design. "I can do a lot of the stuff that's black magic to other people."

BURTON — The city’s website design, a project valued at thousands of dollars that would employ a web designer in a city where unemployment exceeds 12 percent couldn’t draw an interested party.
The original July 5 deadline for web design companies to submit an estimate of the cost of revamping the website turned up nothing.
Public Access Committee member Danny Wells said that he expected four.
“I was surprised too,” said Council President Steve Heffner.
