Kevin Hanser
Kevin started his IT career while attending Oakland University as a student Computer Technician. Kevin developed and refined the network that hosted critical university applications and was quickly promoted to the full-time position of Mail Services Supervisor and Computer Technician. This hybrid job split time between managing the day-to-day operations of the Mail Services department and serving the University Services department as the principal support person for all computer related issues.
Kevin was presented the opportunity to be a key contributor with Merchant Internet Group, a .com startup company during the "dot com boom". Merchant Internet Group was a leader in email marketing and developed cutting edge technology that clearly distinguish themselves from their competitors. Kevin set up and maintained the Windows and Linux servers running a mixture of OSS and proprietary software such as Oracle and MS Exchange, etc that enabled the delivery of the company's primary products. Kevin wrote and maintained PHP and Perl software, much of which is still being used today to send their email club emails.
Kevin then worked for MICA Networks, a small ISP in Southfield, MI. He was the chief engineer responsible for maintaining the network, datacenter, servers and routers to provide Internet access and connectivity to ISP clients. He was a part of MICA's consulting team that provided outsourced services consulting work such as establishing and maintaining routers, firewalls, VPNs, spam filters, virus detection, mail servers, etc.
Kevin joined Energy Web Design to combine his extraordinary talents for networking with the passion for programming he developed over the years. Besides networking, his core software development skills include, PHP, Javascript, Perl, HTML, JQuery, SQL, Drupal and several others.
