1-800-Awesome

1-800-Awesome is a site made for a prominent business consultant out of Seattle. The site was originally built on a Wordpress platform with a custom theming system. This site was an example of off-shoring gone wrong. The client had originally hired an IT firm out of India to construct their website. The company did an adequate job for a low price, however, there were several issues.

Communication was seriously lacking in their previous business relationship. At Energy, we are based in Michigan, you can work with us face to face, and we are responsive. Sure, we are a little bit more expensive than the guys that are off-shore, but what you save in time is invaluable. Due to the time difference between the West Coast and India, communication took place with this other IT firm on a once daily basis. This makes collaboration on a project exceedingly difficult. Energy stepped in and was able to communicate by email and telephone to bring the project to a timely conclusion.

The work on 1-800-Awesome's website included a complete rewrite of the theme (the original developer used antiquated and non-standards compliant methods to construct the original theme, this made adjustments very difficult). Energy used embeded fonts and CSS3 styling to adapt the site to the latest standards. This allows the end user the ability to make changes to minor details of the site without haveing to edit graphics where graphic editing is not necessary. It also let's them use unique fonts throughout the site, where they were isolated to small areas of the site previously.

The site also integrates nicely with a backend system called Office Autopilot. The system is written in such a way that the user never realizes that they are interacting with this business management system, but the site administrators can use all of the valuable data gathered through the system. The site also integrates with Anymeeting in order to provide webinars. The Webinar purchase system is coupled with a file access control system that allows site users that have purchased a webinar to be able to view those webinars in a protected area of the site at any time.
